Mary-Frances White (Documentarian, March 2013 Trek)

The trek was absolutley the hardest thing I have ever done in my life thus far-but it was worth every strain and bead of sweat. I learned things about myself and the world that I feel I wouldn't have learned if I hadn't done this trip. As for the country of Nepal and its people, it is a place one must experience and the people take the experience higher in my mind as they are very open and kind.

Their trust and openness touches you at a deep level. As we visited the schools and saw first hand the work of the ELA and met the children, I saw how incredibly happy they were to be at school, to meet us, and to be alive. Despite their poor living conditions, these kids and their families aren't depressed or miserable-they are thankful for what they have and they are so overjoyed that people from the other side of the world have come to see them. I personally bonded with these children and miss them very much! I cannot find a better way to travel to Nepal-this trek allows the adventurer in you to travel to places no tourist has gone before, the scholar in you to visit world heritage sites and learn about the culture, and the humanitarian in you to give to these communities to help them flourish.
